David Lee Roth (born October 10 1954 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American rock vocalist, songwriter, rock climber, adventurer, actor, author, and former radio personality, perhaps best known for his work with the band Van Halen and his fast-talking, oversized personality. He left Van Halen at the pinnacle of his tenure with them in 1985 (being replaced by Montrose's Sammy Hagar) and formed a solo band. After some time spent performing lounge jazz to small audiences, Roth recruited a wondergroup of Steve Vai (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Greg Bisonette (drums), and released the wildly successful 'Eat 'em and Smile' album in 1986. For a while, Roth's success equaled that of his own band; but while Van Halen became huge with Hagar behind the mic, DLR's star faded over time. After the impressive dream-team line-up of the David Lee Roth band imploded due to ego, guitar prodigy Jason Becker (formerly of Cacophony) was bought into the fold in 1989.

Bump And Grind Lyrics

David Lee Roth

Lookin' for love in the back of a taxi
Got lucky in a cheap motel
Hot pants, nasty
Don't bother knockin'
'Cause you know damn well
This blind date is cash and carry
Dead ringer for the big first prize
She's screaming in the roarin' 80's
And ain't goin' home tonight
So shake it slowly
And do that bump and grind
Well I can tell you've got a few reservations
More value, beg for the buck
I may be wrong but she kind of likes you
Think quiet or you're outta luck
This blind date is cash and carry
We have a winner for the big first prize
Cheap scheming in the roarin' 80's
And you ain't goin' nowhere tonight
Shake it slowly
And do that bump and grind
Rotate slowly
Make it bump and grind, oh yeah
I feel romantic, I wanna let you know
Have you ever really studied dancing
Or do you make it up as you go
Shake it slowly
Do that bump and grind
Move it slowly
And make it bump and grind
Bump it to me
