David Lee Roth (born October 10 1954 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American rock vocalist, songwriter, rock climber, adventurer, actor, author, and former radio personality, perhaps best known for his work with the band Van Halen and his fast-talking, oversized personality. He left Van Halen at the pinnacle of his tenure with them in 1985 (being replaced by Montrose's Sammy Hagar) and formed a solo band. After some time spent performing lounge jazz to small audiences, Roth recruited a wondergroup of Steve Vai (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Greg Bisonette (drums), and released the wildly successful 'Eat 'em and Smile' album in 1986. For a while, Roth's success equaled that of his own band; but while Van Halen became huge with Hagar behind the mic, DLR's star faded over time. After the impressive dream-team line-up of the David Lee Roth band imploded due to ego, guitar prodigy Jason Becker (formerly of Cacophony) was bought into the fold in 1989.

Everybody's Got The Monkey Lyrics

David Lee Roth

From L.A. to New York, London, and Moscow
The monkey is screamin'
He's spreading his spell
The monkey be God and make you beg on your knees
You'll be jonsin for somethin' to make you well...
Everybody's Got the Monkey
Hear the sub or human kind
Everybody's Got the Monkey
You got yours and I got mine
He's hungry for wealth
He's hungry for power
He make you so numb and cold to the core
The hunger of love
The hunger of lust
Make you crave the very thing you try to ignore
Everybody's Got the Monkey
Hear the sub or human kind
Everybody's Got the Monkey
You got yours and I got mine
Everybody's Got the monkey
In his head or on his back
Everybody's Got the Monkey
What I say is a simple fact
Homos and Heteros
Junkies and juicers
Pyschos and users
Abusers and losers
From problem brokers to TV viewers
There's a monkey for every man
Mom and Dad
Everybody's Got the Monkey
Hear the sub or human kind
Everybody's Got the Monkey
You got yours and I got mine
Everybody's Got the monkey
In his head or on his back
Everybody's Got the Monkey
What I say is a simple fact
Everybody's Got the Monkey
