David Lee Roth (born October 10 1954 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American rock vocalist, songwriter, rock climber, adventurer, actor, author, and former radio personality, perhaps best known for his work with the band Van Halen and his fast-talking, oversized personality. He left Van Halen at the pinnacle of his tenure with them in 1985 (being replaced by Montrose's Sammy Hagar) and formed a solo band. After some time spent performing lounge jazz to small audiences, Roth recruited a wondergroup of Steve Vai (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Greg Bisonette (drums), and released the wildly successful 'Eat 'em and Smile' album in 1986. For a while, Roth's success equaled that of his own band; but while Van Halen became huge with Hagar behind the mic, DLR's star faded over time. After the impressive dream-team line-up of the David Lee Roth band imploded due to ego, guitar prodigy Jason Becker (formerly of Cacophony) was bought into the fold in 1989.

The Bottom Line Lyrics

David Lee Roth

Talk about meanwhile
Back at the ranch
The ugly duckings
Learn to dance
Sppirits risin
Mihgt be more...
Gonna blow this whole town
Out the back door
Gibe 'em hell tonight
Go west young man? Aww rite!!
We'll burn the bridges if we please
Or forever you can hold my peace...
Alittle taste I can't stop
Tastes as sweet as soda pop
All dressed up and
Ready for the top!
Yes, I
Got to have it
Got to have it
Got to have it
And that's my bottom line...!!
You wanna feel 100 proof?
I got news for you!!!
I seen some folks fall
And a couple fly
And some of them just dies
Ain't nothing's once upon a time
Got a rosy future, and a big behind
Might get lucky
Never mind
I hear beginners do it
All the time!!
Yes, I
Got to have it
Got to have it
Got to have it
And that's my bottom line.
